Lots of thick bulldust

The Asia Pacific Rally Champion ship has rolled into Canberra this weekend for a combined round with the ARC. A big field of cars and lots of thick bulldust made for some awesome shots. There were also a couple of new cars that I hadn't seen before including the new Subaru STI, VW S2000, and the Honda Civic Type R.

The Honda is being driven by ex British rally champion Guy Wilks and he certainly showed his class in the APRC as at the end of day 1 he was in fith place. Thats in a front wheel drive car that at times seemed to suffer from a big lack of grip.

The VW won the South African Rally Champion ship last year but with a different driver which was apparent when it's current driver finished the day in 10th only just ahead of young Molly Taylor in her Mitsubishi Mirage! Perhaps I'm being cruel and he had a problem but as he went passed me several times he certainly seemed off the pace.

The wildlife took a bit of a battering out here as both Simon Evans & Darren Windus hit kangaroos. Simon seemed to do some major damage but still managed to finish the day in 2nd in the ARC so it must have been mainly cosmetic and he drove the pants off it this afternoon. He should be fun to watch tomorrow as he tries to catch his teamate current leader Neil Bates.

It was good to see some of the ex ARC drivers like Cody Crocker, Scott Pedder & Dean Herridge all doing so well in the APRC. At the end of day 1 thet made up the ARPC top 3. Hope the weather holds and I get to eat some more dust tomorrow.

The mafia staff car that I drive

Had an interesting job this week shooting a fleet of trucks for Mercedes Benz own magazine Driveline. I thought the mafia staff car that I drive had a luxurious interior but the inside of these new Mercedes trucks was amazing, right down to the wood trim in the dash!
